E-learning has taken giant leaps over the past year, and Adobe Captivate 8 has stepped up with their integration of Tin Can Api, a data tracking system that collects results from events taking place on and offline. Captivate 8 also has a brand new interface that takes a short time to learn.
Over the past 14 years the SCORM method of tracking has allowed for uniformity, but it has also has its limitations. Referred to in an article by June Parsons, “SCORM is a “siloed” technology that does not interact with other applications or information systems.” With Tin Can API, scores are achieved by a coupling existing learning system results and external experiences.
Imagine reading a book, taking an online quiz, watching a youtube video, writing a blog, and tracking it all. Tin Can Api allows this multi-source tracking to take place. All the data is stored in a Learning Record Store (LRS) and is collected at various times and places, and it is not limited to your location or whether you are connected to a network.
Let’s take it to another level and add LearnDash to the mix. This new WordPress LMS plugin makes use of excellent features, including responsive support, mass-enroll users, timed lessons, and the integration of, you guessed it, Tin Can API.
These are just a few of the advancements taking place in the e-learning arena. If you have an elearning software cocktail that works great for you let us know about it.
