Better Security With Windows 10

Windows 10 has introduced three levels of security to protect your PC from harmful programs and emerging security threats. These categories include Identity and Access Control, Information Protection and Malware Resistance.

Identity and Access Control

Organizations frequently use passwords or smartcards which can be lost or compromised. Windows Hello and Microsoft Passport were created to enable a simpler multi-factor authentication (MFA). Windows Hello enables facial and fingerprint recognition based on authentication which is good for tablet users. Windows has also added protection against brute-force attacks which break into your device simply by guessing your password.

Information Protection

Microsoft protects and guards information at all stages. It uses BitLocker file-level encryption and has made some great improvements over Windows 7. With the use of Network Unlock, PCs are allowed to start automatically when connected to an internal network. Further improvements allow for better speeds in encrypting hard drives. Along with encryption enhancements, increased steps were taken to protect against cold boot attacks.

Malware Resistance

Unlike Windows systems of the past, Windows 10 is safer and more secure thanks to Windows Firewall and Windows Defender. Windows Firewall filters all the information coming into your PC from the internet, blocking potentially harmful programs. When you first start your PC, Windows Defender starts scanning for malicious software. It uses real-time protection to monitor everything you download and run on your computer. You can even choose specific folders to scan with Windows Defender.

With Windows 10 being deployed on 50 million to 67 million devices, it might be a good time to upgrade your PC system for a safer experience. Unifeyed is ready to help if you would like more information about security or have any questions about security threat protection.
