Adding a New NAS to Network

To be completed in house prior to delivery and setup

  • Connect network cable
  • Connect power cable
  • Determine IP address assigned by DHCP
  • Open ip address in browser
  • Accept terms
  • Disable sending data to WD
  • Disable cloud access
  • Enable automatic alerts
  • Give the system 15 minutes while running and connected to the network to process firmware updates.
  • Make sure firmware is up to date
  • Create username and password. Username should be: unifeyed
  • Save MAC address, username, password to 1 password under Networks Vault
  • After logging in go to settings and general.

o Rename device to “client prefix”-NAS

o Change Timezone

o Turn Mac Backups – Time machine to off

  • Create a new user to be used for backups
  • Create a new share named Backups

o Add backups user to Backups share

  • Go to settings -> Notifications and enable alert emails to alerts@unifeyed.com

To be completed onsite

  • Determine Ip address assigned by DHCP
  • Add MAC address to reserved IP so same ip address is always assigned
  • Verify device is accessible from network
